Costume seen on Julie Andrews as Maria |

This gown is recycled in this film, though its use is likely done on purpose, despite the fact that it is not explained. The gown is first seen on a new postulate entering the abbey, and is seen shortly after on Maria after leaving the abbey. It would be logical to assume that since all of the clothes of the new postulate would have either gone to the poor or have been put into a communal clothing area - that Maria would have taken this dress as her own before returning to the Von Trapp villa. So even while it's probably not a "real" recycled costume, it's interesting to note the re-use of this costume none the less! |
