Gone With the Wind Atlanta Premiere Events

Costume seen on Margaret Palmer

This stunning and unforgetable gown was designed for Gone With the Wind by none other than Walter Plunket. When the film premiered in Atlanta in December of 1939, it was no small affair. Margaret Palmer, a Junior Leaguer whose measurements were the closest to Viviven Leigh's was loaned the gown to wear to lead the grand march for the Gone With the Wind ball.

The photo of her, however, was taken the next day in Grant Park, as she views the Cyclorama painting of The Battle of Atlanta, alongside none other than Captain Rhett Butler himself, Clark Gable.
