Costume Commentary
Ignore this comment. I’m just testing whether the picture upload works again

That’s a really pretty blue dress.
Still hoping to find it’s origin one day. I thought I had it but it turned out to be another dress.
The still is from Sechs auf einen Streich: Der Prinz im Bärenfell btw.
We talked about the disappearance of Far Far Away and I just remembered that they had a separate site for Doctor Who and its spin-offs. And for the moment, it is still online!

So if you are interested in these shows, now may be the time to grap the HQ pictures 😉
At least that’s something. I hope it will stay this way. I still wonder what happened that killed two sites with basically one stone.
I am sure we will find out at some point.
Oh! I never knew about that website! Thank you! Saving it now!
Now I want to check all the Thomas More on screen to see if it’s used a third time XD
I already commented the Pride and Prejudice picture, and nothing very exciting for the moment. Mrs Bennet for example seems too simple and practical for her character.
Good luck with the site issues!
A third pop up of this costume with Thomas More would be amazing!
Good luck with the website. I hope it will cooperate with you and not give you more of a headache.
Tbh I haven’t actually watched any Pride & Prejudice adaptation so far, so I’m still reserved about the newest one. The cast however sounds really good.
I’m waiting for King & Conqueror at the end of the month. Could be good, could be bad, we’ll see.
Does anyone remember that Romeo & Juliet movie with Rebel Wilson that was announced? I noticed yesterday that it had actually released as Juliet & Romeo (how creative…) and I watched it. I don’t recommend it but some costumes looked familiar, as did the style of some others. Like I want to believe they are original because they are in my opinion mostly ugly but I have seen this style before. I just don’t know where. So yeah, the movie isn’t even worth it for its costumes. No wonder it was released so quietly. Fun fact: Juliet’s actress also played Juliet in Still Star-Crossed.
I watched Juliet & Romeo ball room dance and loved song and i found one reused costumes, i started watch The Mentalist and loves crime, drama and outfits and i have watched The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 all of it and loved it
I had never heard of Juliet & Romeo so I watched the trailer and… Yeah it doesn’t look great. I like musicals but this one looks “small” I guess? I don’t know how to describe this feeling… Even the ball scene look kind of empty. But yeah, there are probably reuse on extras. Lots of red, so maybe some costumes also used in the ball scene of Rosaline?
One of the golden headpiece on Rebel Wilson looks familiar.
Also checked pictures on imdb and the funeral dress on Rebel Wilson looks like this one in Los Borgia: https://fr.pinterest.com/pin/1069323505279877673/
Which is also a reuse though I don’t remember from where as the info is on an external hard disk that I don’t have with me right now. Anyway, I’m not sure this is the same.
For King and Conqueror, the story might be good, but I wish they remembered that color existed at the time (from the costumes to the sets and the lighting)
Unfortunately the link won’t open for me so I can’t look at it but I wouldn’t be surprised. And yeah, I agree it looks small and underfunded. It tries to be bigger than its budget. And I think you might be on to something with Rosaline. Both movies filmed on location in Italy, so I’d assume they used a European costume house for extras. Could probably even be the same one.
Trying another link since the image upload doesn’t work right now:

The second picture of the gallery.
It looks same gown and i posted it on my blog on tumblr with you as credit…
Thanks!
Very cool, thanks! I’ll add this to the site at some point.
I’m pretty sure there was a couple more sightings, but I don’t have the right files to check and submit it sorry!
I still have access to Juliet & Romeo. If it is any help, I could take screenshots from it for you. Unfortunately, I do not have an HQ file of Los Borgia and on youtube there is only a 480p version, so yeah, it is a source but the picture quality would be rather meek.
I’ve got Los Borgia on DVD in my catalog, so can get a better cap later if need be.
I don’t remember the quality of my Los Borgia screencaps, though I don’t think it was very good.
I found this other sighting on an extra:

It’s in Medicis on an extra, but I’m still trying to remember where else I saw it. I thought it might have been Prince of Foxes but after a quick check on youtube, nope.
If there are good angles in Juliet & Romeo, it could be great to have some screencaps yes! Thanks!
Oh thank you!!!
It looks same gown and i posted it on my blog on tumblr with you as credit…
The 1995 Pride and Prejudice is really good if you’ve not seen that. I recommend it.
Playing the same character twice would be fun. I know there is some actress out there who is known for playing a step sister in like four different Cinderella adaptations. Haha. That’s her “thing.”
Reminds me of Romy Schneider playing Sissi again in Ludwig! It must be super interesting to play the same character at a different age, or in a very different version of a story.
Oh wasn’t it Ian Holm who played Napoleon twice?
I’ve not heard about Napoleon, but that is cool! I know Flora Robson and Bette Davis both played Elizabeth I twice!
I will see whether I can find that version to watch. And yeah, I imagine it quite interesting but also difficult to not do the same again.
I cant wait see more photos of new Pride and Prejudice, see if more reused costumes….
Thanks!
