Costume Commentary
I cant wait watch The Other Bennet Sister, all there costumes…..
Yes, I am excited for it!
Auto update has been successful . I’m not too deep into Jane Austen adaptations actually, so these were definitely new to me. I’ve actually been watching Mary & George last night and I just noticed how rarely we get anything set in the 1600s. Most is either 1500s with the Tudors or then 1700s again. I wonder why that is. There must be interesting stories to tell as well.
It’s really true, there are very very few 1600 adaptations. A lot of crazy stuff happened, so it’s a shame we don’t get to hear more.
I’ve started an ongoing number of lists of movies and the centuries they’re set in. And although it is dependent on what is actually listed on letterboxd (so, no multi-seasonal TV series), It’s a close call but I’ve – yet – found more titles for a 17th century setting, than for a 16th century setting – or predeceding ones. Less than 18th or 19th, but that may be because memory – and narrative media for those are ‘fresher’ or at least still extant. If you want to have a look-see: https://letterboxd.com/carsncors/list/17th-century-set/
This is AMAZING! A true thing of beauty, OMG. This is so cool, I didn’t realize Letterboxd could do this.
