Sally Lockhart Mysteries…costume mystery?

December 31, 2025

I’m writing from the future. We’ve got a costume mystery from…a mystery?

I have the time (unusual), so I am front loading several weeks of posts. So if you’re reading this…I wrote it a while ago!

We have a beautiful tiara, as well as an undetermined hat…reused or just similar? I would love your thoughts!

I will be busy the week this actually hits your feed, and TBD if I will be able to get an update up and running for January 7th. I’ll do my best, but no promises.

About The AUthor

Katie is the creator of Recycled Movie Costumes, where she’s constantly haunted by the ghosts of costumes past. One day, she had an epiphany: if she had to suffer through these recycled costumes, then so should everyone else! And thus, Recycled Movie Costumes was born.

Contrary to popular belief, Katie does not have a photographic memory, nor does she work in the costume industry. She’s just a girl whose life has slowly spiraled out of control after watching too many costume dramas on Masterpiece Theatre.

  1. Fingers crossed for an update next week. I can’t tell with the hat either tbh.
For me, this was a week of period dramas. I’m currently watching Amadeus and was surprised to find a costume from a rather obscure German two part TV movie from the early 2000s in it on an extra. Costumes really go a long way. Anyway, I learned that Sketch History got a fourth season after having been cancelled a few years ago. Since it is light hearted fun, I think I will watch this today as we approach New Year.

    • I did manage to get an update scheduled, so it should go live next week unless the auto post fails (which has happened once before).
How do you feel about Amadeus entertainment wise? Is it any good?  I saw the costume you submitted and will be getting that one up in the next couple of weeks. Bridgerton as well, as those are both airing now effectively.

      • It is better than Mozart/Mozart qualitywise BUT it also omits his sister Nannerl completely which is a shame and it jumps pretty quickly forward. Like we barely get any development on Wolfgang and Constanze’s relationship before the beginning of episode 02 when they get married. I checked whether I accidentally skipped an episode but nope, that’s how it is supposed to be. The acting so far is fine but the writing is sometimes a bit iffy but since it is based on a play I never read or saw, I can’t say whether it is due to that or new ideas by the showrunners. With Bridgerton, I expect to see more once the season drops. From what I read, Sophie wears her sisters-in-law’s old dresses quite a bit in the book and it seems they adapted that. My next period drama will probably be prime’s Miss Sophie – Same Procedure as Every Year. My mum loves it and it’s an imagined prequel to a famous sketch that always airs on New Year’s Eve in Germany called Dinner for One. The lead Miss Sophie is played by Alicia von Rittberg, who also played Elizabeth Tudor in Becoming Elizabeth. I’m not sure whether prime has made this available worldwide or not. Otherwise I’m currently very much enjoying Spartacus: House of Ashur. It’s bloody and full of sex but the dialogue is greatly written with a lot of wit in my opinion. I enjoy it so much that I will probably go back and watch the main series and the prequel soon, and usually I’m not too interested in Ancient Rome. Still glad for my now PhD candidate friend who got me through that module while we were studying history together at uni.

          • Yes, I watched it last spring. I also still need to make gifs of it for my tumblr blog. I tried House of David and Those About to Die too but either it wasn’t the right time and mindset for me or I just couldn’t connect. I will eventually give them another chance.

    • I just watched Sketch History season 4 Episode 1 and loved the costumes and her is dress and necklace that i loved…and if you seen it somewhere before let me know

  2. I love tiaras, they are so amazing see and hat it might not be same but looks amazing….is soon new year 2026 and might get see lot new reused jewellery, tiaras or costumes…i cant wait
