I love this doublet accented with pearls. Was it made for Elizabeth I, or did it originate with an earlier production? It sort of has an old vibe to it, but I don’t know.
We also have a cool tiara that was used in a neat and creative way. It’s done well. I usually don’t like it when costume designers get creative with jewelry, but this one I like a lot.
Some of the costumes from The Serpent Queen are going up for auction. You can find them here. I am very partial to the yellow dress. I think a lot of productions are following in this trend of selling off their costumes to fans to make a little bit of money back in the end. Game of Thrones did it as well, actually.
I am back in town, so we should be back to regularly scheduled updates.
I have lots of little fixes and factoids to update throughout the site.
Hope all of you are doing well!
Costume Commentary
I understand selling off some costumes that will just never be reused due to their uniqueness. However, looking at those chosen for auction from The Serpent Queen, there are a few I’m sad we will never see again on screen, e.g. Catherine’s wedding gown or Diane’s black and white dress that is marked as Lot #18. I wonder if someone has already taken a look at the new Hulu series A Thousand Blows. The premise sounds interesting but I haven’t come around to check it out yet. Also it seems that there is a new season of 1924. Not really my cup of tea but my dad loved Yellowstone, so now I get it suggested to me by the algorithm.
I agree, especially about Diane’s black and white pieces. They’re pretty great.
I’d not heard of A Thousand Blows – thank you! Interesting!
