A Christmas Costume

December 18, 2024

A Christmas Costume from An Old-Fashioned Christmas. It’s one of those fabulous costumes from “the” scene. You know the one. The rainbow of bustle gowns that caused the hearts of costume drama lovers to skip a beat the first time they saw it. I’m not a fan of Daniel Deronda myself, but oh, this shot.  I’d love to be able to find all of these gowns again. We’ve got the red one and the gold/brown one (today!) – but the others we’ve not found.  If you know where they might have also appeared, please let us know!

Okay, sorry, enough of me freaking out over a screenshot in a mini-series. Our other costume is a faaaaabulous hat from Ludwig!

Next week is Christmas. And the Wednesday after that is New Years. Will I update? I honestly don’t know.  Right now the plan is to post an update for both weeks, but I am going to give myself grace if I do not, because admittedly there are a lot of things going on. So if you show up and updates have not appeared, please have patience and grace with me, and know I will be back to update regularly all of 2025!   We’ve got SO MUCH to update!

Keep sending in those submissions!

Thanks for all of your help, hard work and support to make this site what it is. I couldn’t do it without all of you!

About The AUthor

Katie is the creator of Recycled Movie Costumes, where she’s constantly haunted by the ghosts of costumes past. One day, she had an epiphany: if she had to suffer through these recycled costumes, then so should everyone else! And thus, Recycled Movie Costumes was born.

Contrary to popular belief, Katie does not have a photographic memory, nor does she work in the costume industry. She’s just a girl whose life has slowly spiraled out of control after watching too many costume dramas on Masterpiece Theatre.

  1. I selfishly hope for updates of course but realistically I completely understand why you’ll leave it up to chance. Holidays are always unpredictable. Mine will be incredibly busy as well as I have taken over most of the cooking duties this year with Goulash and dumplings (plus a few vegetables) as well as probably pistacchio & dark chocolate mousse for Christmas Eve. You could call it Dubai mousse as the Dubai chocolate trend is insanely big in Germany right now, although I haven’t actually tried it yet. This happened more by accident as I found pistacchio flavored chocolate chips in Czechia (or was it Poland?) and just had to buy them. For Christmas day, we will have Raclette (German and not Swiss style, so more of indoor electric grilling and pans of melted cheese), apple cake with vanilla sauce and maybe Panna Cotta with mango sauce. The only thing my dad will do is cook the traditional soup and maybe help out with some of the vegetables. My mum is completely lost in the kitchen, so everything else that’s not cooking related will fall on her. Not sure about New Year’s Eve yet. We’ll see about that once Christmas is over.

Anyway, I hope you’ll have some nice holidays.

      • Most will be just for my parents and my uncle. Unfortunately my last grandparent passed away in January, so we are down to four people but we can eat more spicy now. She will still be missed a lot but I’m trying to look on the bright side of it.. My best friend who works as a nurse and during the holidays will also receive some food. I also just learned that some might also go to a friend of my mum’s who is alone on the 26th (unlike most of the English speaking world that one is also still a holiday here, so all stores are closed). We will probably have way too much food but I guess that comes from learning to cook from my grandma who had twelve kids. Neither my dad nor me are really able to cook in small quantities, we always get it wrong by at least half the amount 😀 But no one ever has to go home hungry when we cook.

  2. Love your site, and love costumes from tv series and movies so your site is amazing for me look at and your rigth Christmas and New year busy time and i love both holidays….i cant wait for year 2025 see more old used or new Reused costumes
