This week in wardrobe
June 11, 2025
Another week, another journey through the well-traveled wardrobe of film history.
A very pretty pink gown and a mirror, of all things, held by some pretty big stars!
The Dracula trailer looks like it has some costumes through the ages, but I didn’t immediately see anything.
Not much to report here. I’m updating next week’s costumes at the same time as these, so if you get an email notification that your submission was updated, but you don’t see it featured here yet…that’s why. It’ll make it to the front page next week.
Thanks to you all!

About The AUthor

Katie is the creator of Recycled Movie Costumes, where she’s constantly haunted by the ghosts of costumes past. One day, she had an epiphany: if she had to suffer through these recycled costumes, then so should everyone else! And thus, Recycled Movie Costumes was born.
Contrary to popular belief, Katie does not have a photographic memory, nor does she work in the costume industry. She’s just a girl whose life has slowly spiraled out of control after watching too many costume dramas on Masterpiece Theatre.

That pink dress has been quite an obsession of mine for a while now. So happy to share it with everyone else now. This week I found the origin of a Doctor Who dress I always thought was custom made for the episode but actually originated in a German docudrama. It becomes less surprising when you know Barbara Baum was its costume designer and her work has been quite something (e.g. today’s pink dress is also one of her creations). I need to check the Dracula trailer out later. I wasn’t aware it was already out.

The Doctor Who find almost put me on the floor! So GOOD!

I was also so shocked when I saw it. I originally put that docudrama on to fall asleep but when I saw it I immediately grabbed my laptop and submitted it. I don’t think I could have slept otherwise. Too bad it only appears so briefly and always in fast motion in the episode that taking a screenshot was almost impossible but gratefully it was also used in a promo picture.

Now I’m super curious, I can’t wait to see it publish!

For the costumes appearing in fast motion, I’ve wondered before if sending .gif instead of pictures could work? Cause sometimes there’s just no good screenshots to make…-
Yes, I think a gif could work! I agree sometimes those background ones that go by so fast are hard to capture.

I wasn’t sure if the upload system supported gifs but I’ll keep it in mind if there is ever a costume that can’t be captured otherwise.

I honestly don’t know…I’ve never tried. So it’ll be a surprise for all of us!

Let me tease you a bit in saying it is Donna’s dress from the Agatha Christie episode. Like I was 100% convinced it was custom made for Doctor Who until I stumbled across it in this docudrama and was shocked to see it. The chances of knowing both works is so slim because they are pretty much on different spectrums of interests, so this really feels like a one in a million catch to me. But it also makes me wonder how much is still hiding out there where I was certain it must have been made for that episode when it was “just” borrowed from a costume house.
