Weekly News and Updates

It’s an Ann-Margret kind of week
September 18, 2024
Both costumes today feature Ann-Margret, courtesy of the Google bunny trail.
The Google bunny trail, you ask? Yeah! When I have a costume I need to update, I go hunting for photos. In this case, I needed a photo of Ann-Margret wearing a specific Nolan Miller gown for this post. Well, google being Google of course gives me other results for Ann-Margret aside from what I actually need. One of the results was Ann-Margret in a very distinctive pink fur cloak…
“That looks an awful lot like the pink cloak from What a Way to Go!” I said out loud to myself, as I am wont to do. Well, when I plopped the photo of Ann-Margret into the google Image source search (to find out more about it)…would you believe that photos from What a Way to Go! also popped up, confirming my suspicions before I could even do a search for What a Way to Go!
Google isn’t always right. In fact…usually it’s not. But hey, sometimes it’s useful!
Enjoy the new costumes we have this week. We’ve got a great write up on a Nolan Miller gown. He’s someone we don’t talk much about here, as he’s more a designer than a costumer, and thus we don’t get a lot of reuses of his work. But this instance has several, which is super cool!
Enjoy the updates and check back for more next week.

About The AUthor

Katie is the creator of Recycled Movie Costumes, where she’s constantly haunted by the ghosts of costumes past. One day, she had an epiphany: if she had to suffer through these recycled costumes, then so should everyone else! And thus, Recycled Movie Costumes was born.
Contrary to popular belief, Katie does not have a photographic memory, nor does she work in the costume industry. She’s just a girl whose life has slowly spiraled out of control after watching too many costume dramas on Masterpiece Theatre.

Oh I know the Google trap. You search for one picture and suddenly you have fallen down the rabbit hole and its 5am. It has happened more than I’d like to admit. The worst thing is when you actually need Google to do this for you because you know you’ve seen this costume before and then it gives you completely different ones.

It’s a bit like printers. If you don’t need them, they work. If you need them, they go on strike.-
It’s a very dangerous (but fun) rabbit hole!

Oh, my printer…I’m on I don’t know, printer number five? They all refuse to work.
