Back from my Travels

October 22, 2025

I am back from my travels, and actually saw a costume exhibit! Would you believe it wasn’t planned? We were just walking down the street and ran across a costume exhibit of Glenn Close’s costumes, including what may be my favorite costume ever – her yellow costume from Dangerous Liaisons, which is documented here.   I may try to do a blog post on it, but there isn’t much reused content, so I am not sure how…maybe just….a really short blog post, I guess?

Enjoy two new costumes and four new sightings today! Check back next week!

About The AUthor

Katie is the creator of Recycled Movie Costumes, where she’s constantly haunted by the ghosts of costumes past. One day, she had an epiphany: if she had to suffer through these recycled costumes, then so should everyone else! And thus, Recycled Movie Costumes was born.

Contrary to popular belief, Katie does not have a photographic memory, nor does she work in the costume industry. She’s just a girl whose life has slowly spiraled out of control after watching too many costume dramas on Masterpiece Theatre.

  1. Oh please do write about the exhibit. I love reused costumes but I also just love costumes in general and just because it hasn’t been reused yet (or simply no one has noticed it) doesn’t mean it won’t appear again in the future.

I watched the first episode of The Forsytes this week and I can’t wait for Frock Flicks to rip it apart. But I do like quite a lot of the fabrics they used. I haven’t noticed any reuses yet but it’s also not really the era I focus on the most. Pretty sure the background extras only wear rented stuff, I just don’t know them.

    • Okay, I will make an effort to write about it. It may take a bit, but I’ll get it done. I think I’ve figured out the angle for it as well.
I didn’t realize The Forsytes was out yet…have you watched the original from the 1970s? It’s like 24 hours long and totally worth it.

      • Only in the UK and only the first episode as far as I knlw. It’s actually my very first dip into the Forsyte cosmos. I already noticed from what I read after that they changed quite a bit and start earlier. Like Jolyon’s first wife was a widow called Frances and June is actually just Jolyon’s stepdaughter while the kids by his second wife are actually the result of an affair he had in Venice before returning to England to marry Frances.

          • Yeah, I only wanted to figure out Frances’ last name prior to becoming a Forsyte for a gif set and was immediately greeted with “Well that’s not how this happened in the books or other adaptations.” But I can see one positive thing in these changes: I can watch the other adaptations later and still don’t know what will happen and who is related to who 😀 It also doesn’t help that Jolyon’s hair reminds me of George Michael in the Last Christmas music video all the time.
