Gowns the Color of Fall
November 15, 2023
Two beautiful gowns in fall colors this week for you. I hope some of you are getting some stunning foliage before the true cold of winter hits.
The costumes from Titanic really take me back. I was the right age when that movie came out. I was obsessed with that ship. I had been since I was very young and Robert Ballard had written his book, which I purchased at the Scholastic Book Fair. Do ya’ll remember the Scholastic Book fair? Wonderful. Wonderful!
I was driving past a movie theater with my friend the other day, and she remarked she had seen Titanic there eight times. I only saw it three times in the theatre. I was talking about it to another friend as well, and I said “I think I must have been the only fourteen year old girl in 1997 who didn’t have a crush on Leonardo DiCaprio.” to which she responded “You were definitely the only fourteen year old girl without a crush on Leonardo DiCaprio.”
I was there for the costumes. I was there for the faithfully reproduced china patterns. I was there for the ship. …Leo is a perfectly fine actor, but just not my type. I was the fourteen year old who had a crush on Timothy Dalton. That hasn’t changed, honestly.

About The AUthor
Katie is the creator of Recycled Movie Costumes, where she’s constantly haunted by the ghosts of costumes past. One day, she had an epiphany: if she had to suffer through these recycled costumes, then so should everyone else! And thus, Recycled Movie Costumes was born.
Contrary to popular belief, Katie does not have a photographic memory, nor does she work in the costume industry. She’s just a girl whose life has slowly spiraled out of control after watching too many costume dramas on Masterpiece Theatre.
