About The AUthor

Katie is the creator of Recycled Movie Costumes, where she’s constantly haunted by the ghosts of costumes past. One day, she had an epiphany: if she had to suffer through these recycled costumes, then so should everyone else! And thus, Recycled Movie Costumes was born.

Contrary to popular belief, Katie does not have a photographic memory, nor does she work in the costume industry. She’s just a girl whose life has slowly spiraled out of control after watching too many costume dramas on Masterpiece Theatre.

  1. Wonderful new update and to a new year full of exciting discoveries.

The first German public broadcaster put quite a few period drama/fantasy shows on my watchlist this year with their Christmas releases. I already watched Bach – Ein Weihnachtswunder (Bach – A Christmas Miracle) but unfortunately didn’t notice any costumes I was already aware of.
Next on my list is the mini series Levi Strauss und der Stoff der Träume (Levi Strauss and the Fabric of Dreams), which apparently will be called by the much simpler name of Call Me Levi internationally. It’s about the invention of the jeans as we know it. My mum liked it and I only had the first episode on so far but wasn’t really paying attention, so I need to start again. Although I already saw the first youtube short criticising the costumes…and by the still they used I kinda agree with them.
Also on my list are the two new Christmas fairytale movies but I started the first one, a reimagined Sleeping Beauty, and wasn’t too impressed, so I stopped about half-way through.
I may also check out the new Swedish adaptation of Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter. Depending on the country, it is apparently available on Netflix. However, in Germany it isn’t but instead it was licensed by our public broadcaster which only released the first season now, while the series is already on the second season according to wikipedia.
Last but not least, a trailer was dropped for Das Kanu des Manitu, a sequel to 2001’s Der Schuh des Manitu. I wonder how they will handle the changing times around the discourse about Native Americans but I’m also excited to see whether there will be any reused costumes.
Can’t wait to see what other movies and series will grace our international screens this year.

  2. Wow, it 2025 is amazing how years go by…. its amazing how your site is still alive and looks amazing all reused costumes on it…..i cant wait see more reused costumes in 2025 on your site
