A Costume From Oz
December 11, 2024
With all the talk of Oz lately – with the premiere of Wicked and the recent auction of the Ruby Slippers, we’ve got an Oz based costume from Emerald City. I enjoy getting to put some costumes into the Sci-Fi section. We don’t get many of those!
Also, I found a random costume from La princesse de Clèves. I’ve gotten that production mixed up with La dame de Monsoreau for a few years. Once I figured out they were actually two different productions, I realized I was confusing them because their costumes were the same. There are definitely more of them!
We had some issues with the site this week in various areas. Hopefully solved. We should – God willing – be at the end of development for this site. We are in the documentation phase (which is the last bit), so hoping by the end of the year we will be done – as it’s taken three years to fully build out this site and get it fully functioning on all levels. Whew.
I just…I feel really grateful that I really do love reused costumes. I get so excited about them and I want to upload ALL OF THEM at once to show ALL OF YOU! And then I say to myself “No, you can’t upload all of them at once!” Which is true, I can’t – not just because it’s wise to space out content, but also because I just actually don’t have the time to do all of them at once. But yeah, every week I am just so excited for everyone to see what everyone has found. Just know – if your sightings haven’t been posted yet, that I am really excited about them and want to get them up online and live.
We have some first looks and previews for movies. You can find a first look for King and Conquerer, as well as Merteuil.
Here is a preview for the movie Rise of the Raven, which looks to have some reused costumes!
And here is another preview – this time for the Doctor Who Christmas episode, which also appears to have some reused costumes!
Check back next week!

About The AUthor
Katie is the creator of Recycled Movie Costumes, where she’s constantly haunted by the ghosts of costumes past. One day, she had an epiphany: if she had to suffer through these recycled costumes, then so should everyone else! And thus, Recycled Movie Costumes was born.
Contrary to popular belief, Katie does not have a photographic memory, nor does she work in the costume industry. She’s just a girl whose life has slowly spiraled out of control after watching too many costume dramas on Masterpiece Theatre.

Has it already been three years since you updated the site and the submission system? Feels like it was yesterday. I really love coming back every Wednesday and see what others have found as well. I know from my tumblr blog how it feels to want to post it all at once. But I know if I didn’t pace myself and use the queue feature, I would simply burn out.
After having a bad day financially yesterday, I decided to dig a bit at Maximilian and The White Princess again and had a real breakthrough as you might have noticed by my several submissions this morning. There is still one costume I’m sure is also reused but may have been turned inside out. I definitely need to investigate that sooner or later.
Minor correction btw: Rise of the Raven is not a movie but a ten part series with roughly hour long episodes.

Insane, right? I am so glad you enjoy the site.

Inside out…wow! You never do know – I mean, we’ve seen some crazy stuff done with costumes, I wouldn’t put it past them!
Noted on Rise of the Raven, thank you! I’ll try to get that fixed soon. I appreciate you so much!-
So I finally took the time and checked on that one costume again. It wasn’t turned inside out but the lighting really changes the color quite a bit, also they let out some of the seams at the straps. But comparing both side by side, they are one and the same dress. Also found a cloak that skipped The White Princess and went straight to The Spanish Princess.
