This costume was first seen on  Alan Rickman as the Sheriff of Nottingham in the 1991 Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. In 1992 it was used for Mathieu Carrière as King John in Christopher Columbus: The Discovery. It made another appearance in 1993 on Michel Scourneau as Enguerrand le balafré in the French film Les Visiteurs. The piece was seen a fourth time in 1995, where it was worn on an extra in Braveheart.
