It was first worn by actor Maurice Evans as Dr. Zaius for 1969’s Planet of the Apes and 1970’s Beneath the Planet of the Apes. The character Dr. Zaius would use the costume again, this time played by the actor Booth Colman in the 1974 Planet of the Apes television series.
