About the Costume

This ancient Egyptian inspired headpiece was used in 1998 in the 11th episode of the first season of Charmed, where it was worn by Stacy Haiduk as the guardian of the urn.

The following year, it was worn by Janet Jackson fo promotional material for the 1999 MTV Music Awards. The photo is part of an ensemble, each photo featuring a different singer (David Bowie, Madonna etc.) as opera characters (since the event was to take place at the NY Metropolitan Opera House). In this photo, taken by Mark Seliger, Janet Jackson portrays Cleopatra from Handel’s Giulio Cesare.

In 2002, the headdress appeared in the soap opera Passions, worn by McKenzie Westmore when she played Cleopatra, the past life of her character Sheridan Crane.

Later it appeared in a photo by David LaChapelle of Christina Aguilera for Vogue Italia in October 2003.

Finally, it was worn by Sandra Lee in her show Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee for an Halloween episode in 2007.
