About the Costume

This crown attached to a helmet has been seen three times.  It first appeared in 2005 on Iain Glen as Richard the Lionheart in Kingdom of Heaven.  Next it was used in 2010 on Danny Huston as Richard the Lionheart in Robin Hood. Interestingly, it appears that the crown portion is actually removable from the helmet itself, as the crown appears by itself in the first season of the CW’s Reign on Alan Van Sprang as King Henry II.

Costume Commentary

  1. Here it is on Jeffrey Dean Morgan as some kind of king (I have no clue as to the game, maybe he is supposed to be Richard the Lionheart again) in the Superbowl commercial for “The Battle of Evony”. Looks like, while doing battle, he literally broke his crown or as the German saying goes: Er hat sich Zacken aus der Krone gebrochen.

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone with a keener eye will find the origins of the asian leader’s and George Washington’s (Aaron Eckhart?) costumes…

  2. I think the helmet was used in “Monarchy” 2005 on Martin Nigel-Davey as King Richard lll. I couldn’t find a picture of him wearing the helmet but he wore it.
