This impressive headdress was first designed for Quentin Crisp as Queen Elizabeth I in the 1992 film Orlando, likely by Sandy Powell. The 1996 television miniseries Gulliver’s Travels featured the piece again on Geraldine Chaplin as Empress Munodi.   1. I think I just saw this one in the 2024 Doctor Who Christmas special. The official still only shows it from the back, so I need to go back into the episode to double check whether I’m right.

  2. This one gets used so much they must just keep it next to the water fountain at the costume department. “Oh, that spray headpiece? It’s over there.”

  5. I notice that two ladies wear feather headdress that look similar to the feather headdresses shown on the Tudors in the dancing seen involving Anne Boleyn. They probably are the same or not, or maybe there was some work done on them.

  6. The headpiece was also reused on Chiara de Luca as Marie de Medici in “Ce jour là, tout a changé – L’Assassinat d’Henri IV” 2009. So judging by the number of reused ones, it was this part of the series you’ve mentioned before, wasn’t it?

  8. the headdress is also worn by helen mcrory as elizabeth I in “bill”. maybe with a whole other headdress worn behind it or a second layer added.

    Sadly, the quality of the video was awful, and the screencaps are terrible, but I think there’s a high possibility that this headdress is actually the same we see here.

    Any thoughts?
