Costume Commentary

  1. The gown is beautiful,but its a shame the bodice is in such bad condition.I expect it may have been hung up in the studio for a very long time causing the weight of the bugle beads to tear the chiffon it was sewn to.Really they are supposed to be stored flat in a box to survive well.Bugle beaded dresses are SO heavy,i held a vintage 1930s one once and it weighs a small child!

    •  That is an great point, Michael. The front does look as if it has been hanging up and not stored flat.  Really sad to see the condition!

      • I believe the reason joan crawfords the bride wore red gown survived is after “dubarry was a lady” was finished with the dress, it was thrown in a drawer at MGM.There it stayed for 20 odd years untouched! Some costumes have a lucky escape while others are reused and reused until they fall apart,thats the movie bussiness i suppose.

  2. Dressing is most important the thing in our daily life, and it is the thing which does matter lots in our society.  Sometimes in any unknown place another person give us more respects with our dressing styles and appearance. We can see a best example of mcdonald as gwen marlowe.

  3. A costume is a most important factor to represent any character of any special movie that’s why the industry of costume designing is developing nowadays. People have been more serious about the necessary of costume designing of any character.
