About the Costume

This striped Moschino waistcoat was first worn by Twiggy when she played Princess Georgina “Georgy” De La Rue in the short-lived 1991 television show Princesses. Fran Drescher also starred on the show as Melissa Kirshner, and would later wear the waistcoat during the first season of The Nanny.

Brenda Cooper, the costume designer for The Nanny, initially met Drescher while working as a costume supervisor for Princesses. Because both productions were for CBS studios, it’s not unlikely that this costume is the exact same one.
