About the Costume

Michael Woulfe became a costume designer at RKO in 1949, where he would eventually go on to serve as the head designer on over 100 films. In 1951 he was credited with the gowns for My Forbidden Past, where one of his beautifully beaded and finely detailed dresses appeared on Ava Gardner as Barbara Baurevelle. He used the piece again two years later in the 1953 film Affair with a Stranger, where Jean Simmons wore it as Carolyn Parker in a promotional image for the film.
