About the Costume

This gown is another fantastic example of how much a scene’s lighting can change its color and appearance. It appears rather blue when seen on actress Johdi May as Lady Sara Lennox in 1999’s Aristocrats, but looks fairly green in the 2008 movie The Duchess when seen on an extra.

The costume was spotted on an extra in the 2009 season of Garrow’s Law and in 2013 on Penelope Wilton as Lady Mary Murray in Belle. Finally, it was seen in a 2015 episode of Turn, where it was worn by an extra.

Costume Commentary

  1. It looks like this costume will appear in an episode of season 2 of _Turn: Washington Spies_ (2015). Not sure if it’s worn by a character or an extra, though.

  2. I believe this is the same dress, seen on an extra in episode 1 of Garrow’s Law, 2009. Note that the same missing frills have not been returned to the stomacher.
