Though it almost certainly originated in an earlier production, it was first seen being worn by Alison Steadman as Mrs. Brown in the 2007 adaptation of Fanny Hill. In 2013 it was worn by Alma Lieberg as Katharina in the documentary series Frauen, die Geschichte machten, in the episode entitled Katharina die Große. It was used on extras in both the 2017 and 2019 seasons of Maria Theresa, and most recently it was spotted in Netflix’s 2020 adaptation of Rebecca.
