About the Costume

James Acheson created this gown for 1988’s Dangerous Liaisons, where Swoosie Kurtz wore it as Madame de Volanges. It was used twice in the 1991 mini-series Clarissa – first on the main character Clarissa Harlowe played by Saskia Wickham, and then again by Lucy Robinson as Deb trying to trick Lovelace into believing that she is Clarissa. In 1992 it was spotted on Jennifer Daniel as Mrs. Linton in Wuthering Heights, as well as on an extra in the Annie Lennox music video Walking on Broken Glass. Finally, in 1997 it was worn by an extra in The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling.
