About the Costume

This costume was designed by René Hubert for Linda Darnell in the 1947 film Forever Amber. It was used again several years later in the 1952 film Golden Hawk, where it was worn by Rhonda Fleming as Captain Rouge.

The gown went up for Auction at Julien’s Live several years ago. The auction describes the dress as follows:

The velvet bodice is corseted with chiffon sleeves. The full skirt is created from a sheer fabric with a lace print layered over a built-in petticoat. There are two bias labels in the skirt joined together, the first typed “12775241”   and the other handwritten “504-30 Darnell.
