About the Costume

This incredible jacket, almost electric blue in color, and with bright red flowers and vines brocaded onto it, was first worn by Albert Dekker as the Comte de Provence in the 1938 movie production of Marie Antoinette. Unfortunately, because the film was in black and white, the brilliant colors were not seen. The jacket was spotted again, this time with its brilliant colors displayed, in the 1943 movie Du Barry Was a Lady worn by Rags Ragland as the Dauphin.
