This pretty gown was most likely designed by Theodor Pištěk (who would go on to win an Oscar for best costume design for Amadeus) and was worn by Annette Bening as the Marquise Isabelle de Merteuil in the 1989 film Valmont. Some of the costumes from Valmont went on to be used again in the 1994 film The Night and the Moment. This particular piece was worn again on Miranda Richardson as Julie.
