there appear to be serveral very similar costumes, probably all designed by sandy powell for “shakespeare in love” or maybe “orlando” as she seemed very much into the stripey structures of doublets, jerkins and jackets. here is one with vertical stripes in the upper parts worn by a courteous young man sacrificing his cape for his queen in “shakespeare in love” 1998 and again by a stage actor in “dr, who – the shakespeare code” 2007 and lastly back at the queens court on an extra from the spanish entourage in “elizabeth – the golden age” of the same year.

and here it makes it’s almost inevitable appearance in “the tudors” on i cannot remember whom watching thomas cromwells execution, s03ep08
