About the Costume

This stunningly embroidered vest was made for Joseph Fiennes to wear in the 1998 film Elizabeth, where he portrayed Robert Dudley. The costume was used seven years later by Ulrich Thomsen as Baron Casper Breuner in 2005’s The Virgin Queen, though it is barely visible beneath layers of clothes. The piece was recycled in the 2008 second season of The Tudors, where David Alpay wore it as Mark Smeaton.
