About the Costume

This elegant green gown was first seen in the 1971 production Mary, Queen of Scots, though it almost certainly originated with an earlier film. The costume was used again by an extra in the 1976 Reisen til Julestjernen (Journey to the Christmas Star). Pearls were added to the bodice for its use in Biography’s 1997 Elizabeth I: Virgin Queen. The costume was spotted a fourth time in 2000 in Elizabeth: The Acclaimed Saga of England’s Virgin Queen, when Karen Archer wore it as Queen Elizabeth I.
