About the Costume

This charming purple gown was made for Geneviève Bujold as Anne Boleyn in the 1969 film Anne of the Thousand Days. Two years later, in 1971, the dress was seen being worn by Vivien Pickles as Mary, Queen of Scots in Elizabeth R. Some decorative braiding seems to have been added along the bodice.  The dress appeared a third time in the 2008 second season of Showtime’s The Tudors, where it was worn by an extra.
