About the Costume

Nolan Miller designed this white southern belle gown for Jennifer O’Neill to wear as Laurel Taggart in the 1979 production Love’s Savage Fury. The costume went on to be worn by Jaclyn Smith as Kelly Garrett in the 1981 fourth season episode of Charlie’s Angels entitled Of Ghosts and Angels. Finally, the gown was used in the 1985 mini-series North and South, where Terri Garber wore it as Ashton Main. 

The dress went up for auction in 2013, where it sold for $1,792. The listing describes the gown as:

…white organza gown has a fitted corseted bodice with a sweetheart neckline, piping details, ruffled sleeves trimmed with lace, and is embellished with pink rosebuds. The organza of the full skirt is gathered with lace trimming and decorative rosebuds. Together with two white petticoats with “Nolan Miller Collection” hang tags marked on verso “93.
