About the Costume

This distinctive striped gown has been spotted at least three times over the years. It was first seen on Greer Garson as Edith Mary June in a sketch from a 1969 episode of Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In. The bow was replaced, and some trim on the cuffs appears to have been removed when Samantha Eggar used the gown as Anna Leonowens in the short-lived 1972 television show Anna and the King. Finally, the costume made an appearance in the 1985 North and South mini-series, where Terri Garber wore it as Ashton Main.
