This dress is an excellent example of why proper period undergarments and fit are essential in a costume.

Terri Garber first wore this gown as Ashton Main Huntoon in the 1985 North and South. It was used again in the 2017 third season of Another Period, where Riki Lindhome wore it as Beatrice Bellacourt. The gown is almost unrecognizable, as it is used without a hoop skirt or corset, and there is a very noticeable gap between the bodice and skirt.
