About the Costume

Gene Tierney first wore this floral printed gown as Miranda Wells in the 1946 film Dragonwyck. The costume was used again in 1947 on Celia Lovsky as Minna Ludenbach in The Foxes of Harrow.

The gown went up for auction at Julien’s Auctions, which described the dress as follows:

A blue floral cotton period dress screen worn by Gene Tierney in Dragonwyck (20th Century, 1946). No labels, “Hickey” is inscribed at the inner back waistline. Costume design by Rene Hubert. This dress has been modified in post production. The ric-rac has been covered with blue binding stripes, eyelet has been added to the collar, the cuffs have been gathered, and the buttons have been replaced.
