About the Costume

This black, fur-lined coat has been seen twice. It was first used on Iben Hjejle as Marie Lure in the 2009 film Chéri. In 2011 it was worn again by Samantha Bond as Lady Rosamund Painswick in Downton Abbey.

It is possible that the coat was in use before Chéri. However, if it were created especially for Chéri, it would have been designed by Consolata Boyle, who has also designed for The Iron Lady, The Queen, and Philomena.
