About the Costume

This costume, designed by Edith Head, was first worn by Judith Anderson as Flo Burnett in the 1950 film The Furies. It was worn again in 1952 by Miriam Hopkins as Julie Hurstwood in Carrie. 

The piece went up for sale in 2020 at Bonhams, where it sold for $1402. It was described in the auction as follows:

Full-length iridescent brown grosgrain full-skirted cloak decorated with frog closures and an asymmetric ruched front hook-and-eye closure, trimmed at the collar and cuffs, bearing an interior blue-lettered “Paramount” blank label.
