This wonderful overcoat likely originated in the 1995 production of Persuasion, where it was worn by Felicity Dean as Mrs. Clay. The 2007 production of Persuasion recycled the coat for the part of Mrs. Smith, played by Maisie Dimbleby. It was also seen on Tamsin Greig as Miss Bates in the 2009 adaptation of Emma. The last actress to don the piece was Ellie Bamber in 2016 when she played the role of Lydia Bennet in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
