About the Costume

This green silk dress was used for three consecutive years in three different productions! The first was in the 2008 television adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, where it was worn by Claire Skinner as Fanny Dashwood. 2009 saw the dress appear on the actress Jodhi May as Mrs. Weston in the television mini-series Emma. Finally, in 2010 Anna Madeley wore the costume for her portrayal of Mariana in The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister.

  1. I’ve found this one (or at least, a very similar costume) used by an extra in the Netherfield ball, in BBC’s “Pride and Prejudice”… But I must say, I’m not a 100% sure…

    I say it could be the same, because I don’t think this costume comes from “Sense and Sensibility”; as we know, that production has only a few costumes of its own, as well as “Emma” and “The Secret Diaries…”

    And of course, for “Pride & Prejudice” were made soo many costumes that the costume staff in every future movie / serie about the Regency period won’t have any trouble to dress up their characters…

    “…because the world doesn’t need another Regency costume…” LOL!
