This dark green Spencer was first seen on Sarah Carpenter as Lady Harriet in the 1996 production of Poldark. An appearance followed in 1998’s Vanity Fair, where Natasha Little wore it as Becky Sharp. The 2007 television movie Persuasion then recycled the piece for use by an extra before appearing in the 2008 mini-series Lost in Austen on the actress Gemma Arterton as Elizabeth Bennet. Romola Garai was the last to be seen in the costume, wearing it as Emma Woodhouse in the 2009 television adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma.
