About the Costume

This beautifully embroidered costume has been used as both a robe and a dress in several productions. Costume designer Andrea Galer first created it for the 1999 film version of Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park, where Victoria Hamilton wore it as Maria Bertram. The gown was used again in 2008 on Emma Pierson as Fanny Dorrit in Little Dorrit, and then in 2009 on Carice van Houten as Maria Oldknow in From Time to Time. It was seen spotted in the 2013 film Austenland being worn by Keri Russell as Jane Hayes, and in 2015 on Lucinda Dryzek as Flora Greysteel in Jonathan Strange and Mr.Norrell. Lastly, it was used by an extra in the 2016 film Pride & Prejudice & Zombies.
