Costume Commentary

  1. it looks like this spencer will be reused in “death comes to pemberley” though i cannot yet make out the actress (between anna maxwell martin upfront and nicola burley at the end of the line) and her part.

EDIT- PS: sorry, for the double. the newest post from shrewesbury lasses wasn’t visible on my first page before i’d send my posting.

PPS: could anna maxwell martin be wearing anne hathaways jane austen bonnet(http://www.fanpix.net/0635120/012020714/becoming-jane-2007-large-picture.html)?

    • The bonnet really is a reused one that Anne Hathaway had worn before playing the famous sister to Anna Maxwell Martin’s character in “Becoming Jane”.

      • I enjoyed it quite a bit, even though I’ve had considerably more fun with the book. It was quite a well advertised feature film here in Germany but it must have fallen short of expectations, including, of course, financial ones, as there is no trace of an english language release that was heralded at the start.
But as it is more or less an adventure movie about boys such as Alexander von Humboldt and Johann Carl Friedrich Gauss conquering the world on foot and by mind, there aren’t many lavish costumes. Though there are court scenes (representing a small German duchy, mind you), they are mostly costumed for cartoonish exaggeration.
