It was first spotted on Gemma Jones as Mrs.Dashwood in the 1995 adaptation of Sense and Sensibility. In 1998 it was worn by Janet Dale as Miss Briggs in Vanity Fair, then in 2003 by Paulin Moran as Mrs.Curtain in Byron. It was worn on extras twice in 2005, first in Egypt: The Temple of Sands and Pride and Prejudice. In 2007 the costume appeared in Mansfield Park on Billie Piper as Fanny Price. Most recently, the dress was worn by Olivia Colman as Mme Thenardier in the 2018 Les Miserables.
