About the Costume

This blue dress with a white lace overlay on the skirt was first worn in 2020 by Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne Bridgerton in the second episode of the first season of Bridgerton entitled Shock and Delight.

The dress appears to have been modified for the 2024 third season episode Forces of Nature, where it was worn by Florence Hunt as Daphne’s youngest sister Hyacinth. The bodice has been altered, with much of the floral adornments removed, and the sleeves have been shortened. However, the gown remains recognizable by the lace pattern at the hem.

While this reuse may have simply been done due to the overwhelming number of costumes needed for the production, it could also be an intentional reuse, with Daphne’s clothes being handed down to Hyacinth for her to reuse. For example, this is done a couple of times in the 1995 adaptation of Little Women.
