About the Costume

This unique dress was originally designed for Vanity Fair in 1998, where Frances Grey wore it as Amelia Sedley. It was later reused by Paula Jennings as Zenobia in the 2005 production To the Ends of the Earth before it was recycled for its third use in the 2009 production of Emma, where Christina Cole wore it as Mrs. Elton. All three of these productions share the same costume designer, Rosalind Ebbutt. Often designers will use their older work in new productions, which seems to be the case for this particular costume.
