This corduroy spencer was worn again by Charlotte Riley as Mrs. Arabella Strange in the 2nd episode of “Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell”
Nice screenshot Anna. Yours is much better than mine were.
P.S. Katie, that should read Nichola Burley in Wuthering Heights.
Thanks!
Thanks Anna!
here it is on – again- isabella linton/licola burley. i’m sure the pale blue coat is from somewhere else as well.
Well, I am glad to hear they seem to have captured the beauty and wildness of the countryside, but I am sad to hear the rest…too bad. So much potential. It’s my favourite novel of all time, so I am still hoping one of these days that some version will do it proper justice.
So SO. Breathtaking impressions of the countryside, great realism in that. For once it really felt as if I was sitting on the rocks, overseeing the vale. But as soon as the plot switched into the drawing rooms, it was quite lacking. And I swear, one more shot of Heathcliff sitting/walking/staring balefully into the distance or touching/feeling/smelling something and I would have screamed. Sadly, the dialogue was not as stormy, to the point and strong as the visuals. As were(n’t) the elder leads. And “of course” the second half of the story was missing again. So: not bad, certainly in most departments better than the last TV-effort. But it could have been so much better, truly great even.
Wow, Anna, good to know that there are recyced costumes in W.H. I have not seen the new version yet! Did you like it?
worn as well by nicola burley as isabella linton in last year’s “wuthering hights”. poor girl had to make do with all the “hand me downs”. again: pics will follow, when the DVD is out.
Also worn by an extra in the Pump Room in Persuasion 2007.
Thanks!
Also worn by Lucy Briers as Mary Bennet in P&P 1995.
Thank you! You and Anna are so great to have pointed all of these out for me! Always fun when a new costume drama gets released and there are a whole slew of new recycled costumes to find!
It’s Tina O’Brien as Miss Browne in Anne Lister.
It isn’t Madeley after all. Anna and I are just beginning to watch this program. We’ll have an update about this and other costumes soon! 🙂
Thanks so much!
This same spencer is also seen in The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister (BBC, 2010), worn (again!) by Anna Madeley as Mariana Belcombe.
