About the Costume

This white and blue checked gown was likely created by Ruth Myers for the 1996 film adaptation of Emma, where it was worn by Toni Collette as Harriet Smith.

It was later seen in 2022 in the second season of Sanditon, where it was worn by Rose Williams as Charlotte Heywood. The shape of the neckliene and the pattern placing on the whole dress – especially on the bodice where the checked pattern is diagonal – suggests that they are in fact the same gown.

Most recently it was spotted in The Other Bennet Sister, where it was worn by Poppy Gilbert as Elizabeth Bennet.
