It was first donned by Lucy Briers as Mary Bennet in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice and later reused by Lisa Braund in Regency House Party in 2004. It was next spotted on an extra in the 2007 television movie Persuasion before it was seen on Anna Madeley as Lucy Steele in the 2008 television adaptation of Sense and Sensibility.
Eileen O’Higgins was the next actress to wear the costume as the first Miss Martin in the 2009 production of Emma. 2010 saw the piece appear in The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister on the character Miss Browne, played by Tina O’Brien, and it was recycled for the 2011 Wuthering Heights, where Isabella Linton wore it, played by the actress Nichola Burley. The piece made one final appearance in 2015 when Charlotte Riley wore it as Arabella Strange in the television miniseries Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.

Log in to Replyhere it is on – again- isabella linton/licola burley. i’m sure the pale blue coat is from somewhere else as well.
Log in to ReplyWell, I am glad to hear they seem to have captured the beauty and wildness of the countryside, but I am sad to hear the rest…too bad. So much potential. It’s my favourite novel of all time, so I am still hoping one of these days that some version will do it proper justice.
Log in to ReplySo SO. Breathtaking impressions of the countryside, great realism in that. For once it really felt as if I was sitting on the rocks, overseeing the vale. But as soon as the plot switched into the drawing rooms, it was quite lacking. And I swear, one more shot of Heathcliff sitting/walking/staring balefully into the distance or touching/feeling/smelling something and I would have screamed. Sadly, the dialogue was not as stormy, to the point and strong as the visuals. As were(n’t) the elder leads. And “of course” the second half of the story was missing again. So: not bad, certainly in most departments better than the last TV-effort. But it could have been so much better, truly great even.
Log in to ReplyWow, Anna, good to know that there are recyced costumes in W.H. I have not seen the new version yet! Did you like it?
Log in to Replyworn as well by nicola burley as isabella linton in last year’s “wuthering hights”. poor girl had to make do with all the “hand me downs”. again: pics will follow, when the DVD is out.
